Jeep Tours in the red rocks of Sedona, Arizona are the most popular tour activity in the area, are world famous, and often can be the highlight of any vacation in Sedona Arizona. As a matter of fact, there are more tours done by jeep on the trails through the canyons and over the red rocks of Sedona than anywhere else on the planet. Actually, the experience is so incredible, that we're seriously considering passing a law that requires everyone that visits Sedona Arizona to take a jeep tour (just kidding, but it should be a law). Partly because of their popularity, but also to help protect Sedona Arizona's natural beauty and fragile ecosystem; all tours, including jeep tours, that are done on the trails in the Coconino National Forest's Red Rock Ranger District require special permits issued to the Jeep Tour companies for those companies to be able to have access to the trails and provide tours. These permits are continually reviewed to insure that the jeeps are inspected and are properly equipped, that the Sedona Jeep Tour Guides are First-Aid and CPR certified, have certain knowledge about the trails, Sedona history, geology, wildlife and plant life, and adhere to specific safety precautions. We never recommend a Sedona Jeep Tour Company that provides tours in the red rocks of Sedona that does not possess these permits or is not current on the permit process.

With that in mind, it's time to head for the trails to experience all of the wonders the backcounty of Sedona has to offer. Jeep tours in Sedona come in a wide range of trail types (from mild to extreme), as well as the particular type of tour that is offered (from historical and archeological tours to scenic, wildlife spotting, or spiritual tours). There is no tour available that "does it all" or "sees it all", so it's probably a good idea to either book a combination tour offered by the Jeep tour company in Sedona, or do a few different tours with one or more companies. Check with our recommended Sedona Jeep Tour Companies to find out their current offerings and availability. If you have a color preference, you'll be happy to know that Sedona Jeep Tour Companies come in every one of the primary and secondary colors...and more!

Some of Sedona's more popular trails include Broken Arrow, Soldier's Pass, a run up Schnebly Hill, Oak Creek Cayon runs, the Western Canyons area of Sedona, as well as jeep tours to take in a Sedona sunset, or a vortex tour by jeep. There are even jeep/hiking combination tours, or tours that include a jeep ride through the backcountry and then a helicopter flight over Sedona, or horseback riding in the outback. Check with our recommended jeep tour companies to find out their offerings and availability.

Broken Arrow is Sedona's original Jeep Tour Trail and has been in operation since around 1960. Incredibly rugged, and with scenic views from Submarine Rock and Chicken Point, you'll experience a couple of hours of 4x4 excitement in the backcountry of the 179 Corrider, one of the most scenic in Sedona. Don't forget to check-out the rugged and historic Soldier's Pass Trail. This original trail travelled by General Crook during the Apache Campaign in the 1870's includes stops at the geologic wonder of Devil's Kitchen and the sacred Seven Apache Pools. Or, head up 2,000 feet in elevation on the original stagecoach route from Sedona to Flagstaff on Schnebly Hill Road to get views of Sedona, Oak Creek Canyon, and pretty much the entire Verde Valley. Don't forget to take in the panaromic wonder of a Sedona sunset on a trail that hits the Western Canyons of Sedona. Sunsets, and especially reverse sunsets, are an absolute must in Sedona, and there's no better way to experience them away from the crowds than by an off-road jeep tour in Sedona, Arizona.
